A Hymn for Christmas
O Child of bless`ed Mary born,
We greet Thee on this happy morn,
And would to Thee an anthem sing,
To honor Thee, O Infant King.
For Thou didst leave Thy throne above,
To be for us incarnate Love,
And laid aside Thy majesty,
The promised Lamb of God to be.
Thou Lord, who didst in Heaven reign,
The Virgin's womb didst not disdain,
That Thou might come, in humble birth,
To save the wayward sons of earth.
And so, as angels sing with joy,
In praise of Thee, O wondrous Boy,
We too would sing, as with one voice,
And ever in Thee, Lord, rejoice.
I hope this poem can communicate something of the wonder of this day. Merry Christmas!
